Gaius hasn't seen Newt in a few days now.
Normally he'd see her in the rec room he favored watching movies on the big screen or else in the hallways when he was walking from the science labs to his own room, where he now kept his notes locked every evening. But the last few days, he hadn't seen her. Perhaps it was because his sleeping habits had changed, or maybe it was just coincidence. He could easily just send her a message via the communicator, but he decided he'd rather check in on her.
And that is precisely why he's standing awkwardly outside her door right now. He stands there for a full minute before he finally manages to force himself to rap on her door.
